In 2017, the island was named the Caribbean Destination of the Year by Caribbean Journal and judging by the tourism numbers, people are paying attention.

If the first few months are any indication, 2018 is on track to be another big year. In January 2018, Grenada saw a total of 100,654 visitors—an increase of more than 30% over last year. With the majority—around 46%—of those visitors coming from the United States. In total, it’s estimated that tourism numbers overall will be up by about 6% for 2018.

And looking ahead, by 2019 there will be approximately 3,000 licensed and certified hotel rooms on the island once new developments are completed.

But it’s not just the island’s warm hospitality and sandy beaches that are drawing visitors. In 2017, the Grenadian government signed a major agreement with the OECS Cancer Institute in Antigua to bring more affordable radiation and oncology treatments to the island for residents.

Another reason last year was particularly good in Grenada is because of the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season. While several neighbouring nations were quite heavily impacted by back-to-back Category 5 Hurricanes—Irma and Maria—Grenada actually escaped mother nature’s wrath relatively unscathed. As a result, there was no negative economic impact to the island.

For a minimum investment of just $350,000 USD and a $50,000 government fee for a family of four, Grenada is also an affordable option for a second citizenship.

Read more about Grenada with our top stories from 2017:
Spotlight On: St. George’s, Grenada
Grenada’s Constitution
Grenada—The Isle of Spice

Or contact us to get started with your free consultation today!

Nicknamed ‘the Spice Isle’, Grenada is a small Caribbean nation that’s really heating things up.
